Welcome to the Los Angeles Colony of the California State Mayflower Society. Founded in 1916 and chartered in 1927, we are the second oldest colony in California with over 200 members strong. Our colony covers the Los Angeles Basin from San Fernando Valley to the north and Long Beach in the south. Our Colony celebrates the memory of the Pilgrims and the Wompanoag Nation who together forged the longest lasting treaty between America’s Ingenious people and Europeans. We preserve the history of the men, women, and children who in 1620 travel across an ocean to make a new home where they would be free from religious persecution. With the help from Womanoag people, who taught them agriculture, they survived harsh conditions. They created a government bound by a Compact that formed the beginnings of democratic rule in the America. Our Society remembers and preserves the historical records and genealogy of these people for the millions who have descended from them today. We invite you to explore our website to learn more about this history and perhaps discover your family’s role in this incredible story.
